Maybe there should be a law stating that for publically traded companies, the growth rate stated to the investors is the same one that should be presented to the IRS, with a penalty of 2x the difference when there is a discrepancy.

So, what, maybe the audit will eventually make Microsoft pay, but not before all the malefactors are dead, and the coffers stripped bare? The thing that sickens me most is the sheer scope of it all. Like some vast, unnoticed meteorite of Damocles dangling over all our heads and we just did a collective shrug on it once it was pointed out.
