Indeed. Search eBay for “equipment key”. Rings of standard keys for this sort of equipment go for $1-$2 per key.
I’m sure the thieves planned the heist based on the target passing a site with the appropriate equipment, rather than trucking their own excavators to the location.

Yeah, I have to rent big equipment occasionally, and I’m always shocked how easy it is. A working credit card number and they’ll drop it off where ever you want, with a few curt instructions on how to use it. Pretty fabulous, really.
