Man, I’m really a broken record with my new-tech comments here, but seriously, watching the intro videos for these things, just like with DARPA robotics, I immediately feel like I’m watching a tech demo video from the cold open of a dystopian scifi movie. The boppy, electro-pop music, the intentionally goofy and innocuous examples “A monkey…doing its taxes…wearing a silly hat!” and the constant reassurances that the only purpose of it all is to help humans “unlock their creative potential”. It was amplified by the weirdly fore-shadowy throwaway line in the middle about how feedback systems to correct mistakes make the system more accurate and “safe.”
I am just all out of optimism y’all.
