Please, regardless of where you live geographically, plant butterfly companion plants found here:

and here:

I guarantee a joyous occasion when the butterflies start to emerge, they are great pollinators, and who doesn’t love a butterfly, let alone dozens of them in your yard or garden…

The mind-blowing thing about the Monarch migration to me is that it lasts longer than the lifespan of the butterflies themselves. They stop and breed on the way, and their descendants are the ones that actually complete the trip.

Hence the reason they need our help to make the trip. Thanks for the input, and let’s all get a planting!

We have 5 native milkweeds sprouting from seed right now and several fully developed tropical milkweed plants to help while the natives grow. I am so excited.
ETA five native milkweed varieties. Lots more than one plant

“his luck is in… and the female, she is on her own… he whisks her away from the surrounding chaos and injects her with sperm…”

Definitely needs a NSFW warning!

And if anyone wants more resources, the xerces society is great.
I put together a project-based learning course for a class I took last summer, and there are tons of resources linked:

I planned it as a year-long community-based project, but even without doing that the tools linked are great. We evaluated our own property using the xerces tool and made a plan to boost our score. It makes it all so easy, and made us think about things in addition to plants, like providing habitat for a range of pollinators.
Fight the good fight, happy mutants!
