The planetary probes do that too, which sometimes give surprising artifacts in pictures since the camera is in motion. When NASA have cleaned up artifacts they have been accused of covering up proof of aliens.

That’s a pretty neat optical illusion bit it’s still introducing color and I’m skeptical if it would work with some forms of color blindness.
What was a really cool optical illusion was this shareware program I had for my B&W Mac Plus that would use POV fuckery with the CRT to make a special fast moving B&W pattern appear as if it was showing various colors. That was impressive. Sadly, I don’t remember the name of the program.
