It’s “Thistledown” (for all you Greg Bear fans).
OK ok. I am jumping on the bandwagon.
Anyone remember this one?
Long ago I saw someone pull the wings off a dragonfly.
Could that be it?
In honor of this momentous occasion, let’s spell the object’s name correctly, shall we?
It’s ʻOumuamua. Leaving out the ʻokina (the Hawaiian glottal stop marker) is a misspelling, just as leaving out a consonant or vowel would be. It looks like an upside-down apostrophe and can be typed (in macOS) with the keystrokes option–right square bracket.
Bonus pedantry:
ʻoumuamua
n. Leader, as in battle or other activity; scout.
Mahalo ā nui loa!
Remember, the Ramans always do things in threes…
Silent Running?
Nope. Lexx
Thank you
I would have imagined that Rama would be the first place folks would go. And the quote was exactly what I was going to post
“Turns out they’ve got lots of whales. Move along.”
Freud would have something to say about that particular object…
Is that an asteroid from your galaxy or are you just happy to see ours?
Long, thin and spinning; what a great way to simulate gravity and generate power. Just what is needed for a long space flight.
Poopy McPoopFace?
Such an odd show.
I prefer “The Potato”.
Well it is approaching the orbital radius of Saturn. Maybe its agriculture will stop working soon.
I googled around but I can’t find a reference to that. Both objects are in stable, high energy orbits deep in the solar system so its hard to see how that could happen. They could be normal captured asteroids of course.
