I had the pleasure of meeting him in 1991. He shook my hand and gave me an autograph that was signed on a pamphlet about the Islamic faith. Every time I go to Louisville I make it a point to visit his grave.

There are those who will rank other fighters above Ali, but he ranks far higher as a person.

I had the privilege of meeting him at an event when I was a teenager in the 80s. I didn’t get an autograph, but had the thrill of him playfully faking a punch at me (something he was obviously very practised at). I’ll remember that for the rest of my life.

There’s a clip of him talking a guy off a ledge in 1981 that will bring a tear to your eye, just because he was nearby and saw something was up. I’d link but meh, you’re all very capable people.
