Wouldn’t the next step be to build this right into your flash drive? Some trust would be required, but that’s not impossible, is it?
If you could trust random flash drives you wouldn’t need this to begin with.

A better fit would be building it into laptops/USB hubs, have one special secured port and the rest as normal ones…
