I always try to be served by people. When I have to use self checkout I feel I need to send an invoice to the CEO of the supermarket for my time at the hourly rate I am paid by my actual job. This is of course quite a bit more than the supermarket staff operating the checkout are paid.
I like the one at (our) Safeway that says, “would you like to donate to children’s charity?” Well, that sounds super-specific, and legit! Who wouldn’t want to support that? What kind of monster would click “no?” /s

i am in total agreement.
Publix is not a union store, and is very much anti-union. it is the only grocery store near me, though. the Winn-Dixie is horrible and i can’t wait for Aldi to finish their buyout. maybe then we can have a decent alternative to Publix!
Not as in, “Oi! iknownuurthing, get out! You’re banned!”

That just gives you more time to check out the wondrous bargains on the aisle of randomness.

A friend once saw a Spot Welder for sale in the centre isle of Aldi or Lidl; very reasonably priced.
You just need to get one of those gloved that have six fingers, so the AI can properly identify that it is “seeing” a hand holding an object.
It did however dissuade me from ever going to Indiana.
