I heard recently that quokkas witth throw their babies at a threatening predator as a diversion to escape. Maybe the quokkas thought he was tossing his babies about unnecessarily…

It’s true,
From an evolutionary standpoint the thinking goes that it’s better to lose this baby and have another one later, than stay and fight.
