On first listen, I can literally understand none of the words, but I still really like the song. I’m in a cafe, so not the best accoustics, with earbuds. Here are the lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Come under my wings, little bird
Come under my wings, little bird
Come under my wings[Verse 2]
Unmade, unmade
I swear that there’s nothing up my sleeves
And then back again
I swear there’s nothing
Unmade[Verse 3]
There’s no faces
Won’t grow back again
Broken pieces
Unmade[Verse 4]
I swear there’s nothing
Won’t grow back again
I swear there’s nothing
Come under my wings
Come under my wings
Come under my wings
Under my wings
We’re unmade
I couldn’t help but think of this song as a requiem for their drum tech who was killed in that catastrophic stage collapse in Downsview Park, even if it has nothing to do with the incident, it’s all I could think of.
Thom’s vocalization is really remarkable, almost as rare and in the same realm as Dylan? Who else comes to mind, when it comes to lyrics you can’t quite discern, but still love to listen to?
modulargrid.net link please Thom.
Woo Hoo!
I’m seeing it tomorrow with a Q&A with the director in Hollywood.
Can’t wait.
Ehh. The soundtrack to the original Susperia was amazing - so much so that Argento, the director, played it during the parts of the filming where he didn’t need to record voice. He wanted the actors acting frightened ! This stuff doesn’t compare.
Reminds me of this story of the guy who met him in a modular shop: https://www.reddit.com/r/radiohead/comments/55fhgg/i_shopped_for_modular_synths_with_thom_yorke_today/
Just listening to the album now. Holy crap, is it ever good.
