I quit my “neighborhood prevention” Whatsapp group because when it wasn’t petty drama or irrelevant blabbing it was “suspicious person” “checking out parked cars”.

Same reason I could never stomach NextDoor. I call it the “find out which of your neighbours are racist” app. Every post that wasn’t complaining about dog poop on lawns was about “suspicious” Black people “casing houses” and “looking at parked cars”. It just made me want to scream at everyone all the time.

Here people complain about people putting bagged dog poop in their always outdoors trash can. Why not complain about actual civic issues? Who knows

the litter in my neck of the woods has increased dramatically over the past 5 or ten years despite signage. Perhaps we need flyers too.
