this also reminds me of a dream i had in the mid-80s in which i was being shown around a vast warehouse which an alien civilization was using as a museum of humanity. as we traveled across this vast enclosed space i noticed bright lights in one corner and when i asked they flew me to it. in that corner was the entire contents of a hypermart but without exterior walls. it gave me a sudden shiver as i realized just how large the space inside the museum was.

Used to happen frequently at my local Fred Meyer, especially on weekends, at least before they remodeled and put in a few more self-check lanes (and made it harder to actually get into the store to, y’know, get things to buy.
I never saw a KMart where the store wasn’t an absolute mess.
