As an involved uncle in real life I can tell you that this plot device has a lot of verisimilitude.

Such a shame the reboot got cut off. It could have used another season, but at least it went out on a high note.
I guess there’s still that new Darkwing Duck series in development, but I never really got into the original DD. It had a different vibe.
