This brings back memories of the failed One Laptop Per Child project. There was a non-profit with a goal of providing inexpensive laptop computers to children everywhere in the world. They had trouble getting the cost down and had to compromise on the processor, the LCD display and so on. One big goal was to include a dump of the complete Wikipedia, so some of the available Wikipedia archive downloads might have been developed for OLPC.
