Wisconsin governor cleverly approves education budget increases for the next 400 years

Well, as a person named Jeff, I would accept this.

Welcome to my year!

How dare he abuse his power to make things better for the people of Wisconsin! /s

Seriously, though, this is what happens when you elect Democrats at the state and local level.

Tony Evers, Tim Walz, and J.B. Pritzker all competing to be the most progressive and effective governors in the region (or country, for that matter), and not giving two fucks collectively about GOP howling. Awesome.

Once again, this isn’t an example of an abuse of power; this is an example of clawing back a little balance from prior abuses.

Is that indexed to inflation? Because if not, it seems like a great way to guarantee education funding gradually falls over time, after the next handful of years. After all, the opposition can always refuse to increase it further, on the grounds that your side already approved the budget!

Because the previous 40+ years of tax cuts for the wealthy still haven’t created the “rising tide that raises all boats.”

apparently there’s a chance this could hold, because in August the supreme court in Wisconsin changes over and is becoming a liberal majority court. so, cross your fingers, friends in 'sconsin!

Sure it has. Except they used the tax revenue to build a lock and dam, and the megayachts are on their way up while the rest of us are downriver, and they’ve passed laws to ensure only 300 foot or larger boats are allowed to enter the lock. But it’s all fair: anyone with a 300 foot boat can use the locks equally.
