Well, Rush weren’t of the classicist/folk type, but definitely of the deedly-deedly variety.
Every style of music is disdained by someone, somewhere. I hear the stuff that other people rave about, shake my head, and put my headphones back on.
I’ve always been a bit of willful outsider. If critics and hipsters hate it, they I know I’m on the right track.
deedly dee folk wankery? Rush? Go buy a Rush album and listen to it. Their latest one (Clockwork Angels) will melt your face off.
Non, merci.
For me prog-rock is best in small 15min-ish doses, I feel that it gets too self absorbed and wankery and the excessive solos/time changes can get right on my nerves.
Also, Rush is totally ‘deedly-deedly-dee’, infact they define ‘deedly-deedly-dee’.
Man, that’s not even a whole song, in many cases.
