You can call me AI

I’ve long found it bitterly ironic when I fail a Turing test set by a machine (do look up the originals on that btw if you haven’t recently, also the biographical backgrounds from friends/colleagues about his state of mind (laughing constantly) about it. It’s …. eye opening and a bit concerning). So this cracked me up.

Usually when they fail me I go “my mother? Let me tell you about my mother!”

Everything “Homeland” touches. They are the epitome of a government agency set up in bad faith for opportunist power grab purposes.

Oh, of course it doesn’t one box. Anyway, it’s an AI will call and talk to you on the phone! It’s probably awful! I am not calling it

ETA: I just realized that this is literally the title of the thread if you added a comma!

NSFW

I mean, there isn’t any real nudity and anything there is is blurred, but why would you? And the article is pretty graphic, so warning there too.

Anyway, this is our horrible future present

Woe to those who rely on AI for advice!

Funeral directors are trained to sensitively catch certain unique details, like how many ex-wives a father may have

It does give one pause to consider that your obit might indeed be a chat-bot generated statistical average of otherwise representative lives, with the number of ex-wives as the only specifically factual point.

There is so much to unpack there…

“ EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — It is powered into flight by a rocket engine. It can fly a distance equal to the width of China. It has a stealthy design and is capable of carrying missiles that can hit enemy targets far beyond its visual range.

But what really distinguishes the Air Force’s pilotless XQ-58A Valkyrie experimental aircraft is that it is run by artificial intelligence, putting it at the forefront of efforts by the U.S. military to harness the capacities of an emerging technology whose vast potential benefits are tempered by deep concerns about how much autonomy to grant to a lethal weapon.”
