Chrome eats RAM because

I did not know that! And holy shit, it looks like my InoReader tab is using up over 700mb of memory. Methinks I need to find a lower footprint RSS site. I was wondering why the hell my Chrome was always showing over 1gb of memory in use!

Using memory that you don’t need, just because it’s there, is a waste. Programs should never use more memory than they need, period. That RAM is there in case you need it for other programs.

If you go to about:memory in your address bar, it will show you how much memory Chrome is using (and all other currently running browsers too, actually).
