Sure it does, but that doesn’t let institutionalized, racist policies you see in the south off the hook. Institutional racism is worse in the south.
Places in the south like South Carolina are (by far) the worst in the nation for hate groups on a per capita basis. Voting problems for blacks are the worst in the south on a per capita basis.
There’s still monuments to slaveholders and other horrific racists in the south, but god forbid you try to put up a monument to slave-revolt leaders in those shitholes.
I lived in the south for many years. If you have as well and are claiming that the south doesn’t have a massive problem with institutionalized (and otherwise) racism disproportionate to the rest of the country (even when you consider the per capita of black to white ratio), then you’re simply delusional.
