Is there a source for this chart? According to Wikipedia, Maine has permitted gay marriage since 2012.
An inaccuracy in the Onion? Somebody fetch my smelling salts!
Alaska! Don’t saddle us with Alaska! It is hard enough carrying Montana, Idaho and Wyoming on an adjunct basis! =:0
The chart does not actually appear as part of the Onion article which is why I was wondering as to the source.
I can’t tell the difference between the real world and Onion news stories…
It’s from http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2012/11/red-state-blue-city-how-the-urban-rural-divide-is-splitting-america/265686/, which was published in 2012, so yeah it’s long out of date. Gay marriage in Oregon became legal in May 2014 when the state government declined to defend the ban.
Fwiw, the interactive graphic seems to originate at http://www.theguardian.com/world/interactive/2012/may/08/gay-rights-united-states. The Guardian copy seems to be being kept updated (they put a ring on it).
