I prefer the somewhat more inclusive label of “illusionism”.
Eh, I dunno. I just don’t like being fooled. I know what you are presented isnt possible as it appears, so it doesn’t interest me. My interest in illusion is purely in knowing the techniques which allow the tricks to work. Which illusionists don’t/rarely share, or in the case of Derren Brown, outright lie about as part of the act.
Maybe I’m just too old and jaded.
Edit: I definitely wrote Derren. I’m going to blame my phone’s autocorrect.
