I just got back from Dauphin Island where one afternoon dozens of Portuguese man-o-wars washed up on the beach. I think they’re magnificent animals and it was heartbreaking to see so many, especially some very small ones, drying up in the sun. Most went back out with the tide which was a huge relief–I was happy to think they survived, and also to not have to be so careful about where I stepped.
I think I’ll skip watching baby jellyfish die, even if it is just a game.
