The Shadow Of What Was Lost (The Licanius Trilogy Book 1)

Davian, Wirr and Asha, three students at one of the last schools for Gifted users of Essence are dragged into the middle of a generations long battle against an enemy no one wants to believe exists.

The “enemy no one wants to believe exists” sounds a lot like Sauron from Tolkien and Voldemort (sp?) from Harry Potter. I enjoy well-conceived fantasy, and haven’t read the novel, just pointing out that this appears to be a recurrent theme.

Hopefully someone smarter than me will point out why this is painfully obvious to everyone except me
