Kings of rock opera? Did they do any? Sure, they were theatrical, and maybe operatic, but I don’t think they did a single rock opera much less are the kings of it.
The Who did Tommy and Quadrophenia. Genesis did the Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (and parts of other albums), and was certainly as theatrical and classical (if not more so) than Queen. Pink Floyd has The Wall, and others. ELP and Yes are certainly as drenched in classical music and overblown themes.
I would say that they are the kings of rock musical theater, maybe, but not rock opera.

That’s a fair criticism. I was thinking of them as very operatic but not Rock Opera as a form. Will clarify. Thanks!
