11foot8+8 bridge finally claims another victim

Given the way essentially all land use and maintenance law surrounding railroads works , they would have near zero ability to compel the expenditure. It would have to be the feds.

Really? that’s it? Pfft. That seems trivial. The way you guys were talking made it seem like it’d be more expensive than the Apollo Programme.

80 trucks per year is, funnily enough, also about $3.2M. When the payback period is just a year, the investment case makes itself.

This entire topic has devolved from “fun aside” to “World vs engineer with all the answers, because clearly those overseeing the situation do not.”

A lot of the folks posting on this thread have actually driven through this intersection at one point. I drove through it before many of the precautions were in place. The vehicle I was in was well under 2 meters total height. I still thought I was going to hit it. This is an obvious LOW FUCKING BRIDGE, made more so visually by the fact that you drop down from almost level with it to get to the intersection. Any driver who hits this bridge would plow through a marching band doing a parade with fireworks and a live, rolling KISS concert and not even notice.
