On one hand, this is ethically and ecologically dubious. On the other hand… mammoths!

I know I’ve read this story before. And enjoyed it immensely. (just couldn’t find a way to use the word mammoth in that context)

Don’t need mammoths to restore Siberian grasslands. Any grazing herd animals that can live in that area can do the job as long as they are kept moving as if under predator pressure to prevent over-grazing. This is Allan Savory’s Holistic Management grazing technique. I wonder when the NYTimes is going to write an article about that, which has been restoring and expanding some grasslands for over 20 years now.
