Your post is a fractal of @semiotix.
You are Bob Howard and I claim my £5.
The eventual finish is more disappointing than it is unsettling…
Is that your sliver of land growing into a peninsula, or am I just excited to be recursively seeing you?
That’s exactly what it’s like. And this is a problem with measuring coastlines - the closer you get, and the more fidelity you measure them with, the longer they get
Oh, and if we’re talking about fractals, it’s time to bust out my favourite fractal fact
The inital B in Benoit B Mandelbrot stands for Benoit B Mandelbrot
Also, “PHP” stands for “PHP Hypertext Preprocessor.”
And @anon24181555, I hear you can cut the whole thing into 5 pieces and reassemble them into two fractal coastlines.
My recollection is that fractals have fractional dimension, but one presumes that there are recursive figures with integral dimension.
I could probably look this up, and I probably will. But for now, I’ll just pose the question: Is everything that’s recursive fractal?
I blew a Sierpinski Gasket once, but then I came down.
Yep, it’s reductionism, all the way to the bottom.
I recognize that approach. I started flying into that airport in the mid-90s.
I still am.
No, I don’t believe so. Infinite name resolution recursion loops aren’t fractal.
Caveat, I am not a math guy, and math has special language that sometimes conflicts with common usage.
Watch it to the very end
I’ll have to Mull of Kintyre that one over
