This guy is clearly having a hard time. I just hope he comes to his senses and goes back and apologizes and doesn’t go back and shoot up the place. Maybe he shouldn’t be allowed on dating sites. Or in bagel shops. Definitely shouldn’t be allowed to have a gun.

Okay. What does that have to do with his misogynistic rant? We all shitty days (or weeks, months, or years), and we somehow manage to not go on this kind of rant.

I think you missed the entire point there.

Wow… that was something special. From “cool let’s meet here” to “but I’m a nice guy” to “you want me to rape you” to “die whore”.

Is this really what it’s like to be a woman?

So many many moons ago when I hung out on LambdaMOO regularly I managed to get an administrative role which required a non privileged account for testing reasons. For funs I made a female presenting character but the description was simply ‘A stressed computing admin. She looks like she could use a haircut’.
I could idle all day as me and it would be crickets. I couldn’t idle longer than 20 minutes as the other without some rando checking the description remotely or just paging me with ‘hey baby, etc, etc’. I totally believe that the screen scrape shown could have happened.

Ah, yeah, it is. I am grateful I wasn’t a young woman in the cell phone age.

Not all the time, but way too often, yes.

I think I did miss the point. Didn’t read the article and just watched the video in which he is yelling at everyone and starts after the misogyny parts (maybe?)

My point was that this can end in three ways.

  1. that was the end
  2. he can come back and apologize for being a total ass hat
  3. he can come back with a gun and kill a bunch of people.

If 1 than I guess that’s not so bad all things considered.
If 2 that would be a nice thing to do.
If 3 that would suck.

And if states had good red flag laws which unfortunately they don’t this guy could have his guns taken. Or he get some help or anger management classes or something. No one at the bagel shop (worker or other customer) should be treated the way he treated them. If he was being misogynistic before the video than doubly so.

The point is that we live in a world where women are routinely and regularly diminished as human beings. I will never be as valued as a man, no matter what I do. I am always considered to be lesser than. Period.

but yeah, it’s all about him.

This video seems to be mostly about him. There is barely a woman in the video and he is sort of the main focus as he is totally freaking out over god only knows what. And other than the woman at the end that says I just wanted donuts you barely even see a woman. But we do live in a unfair fucked up society. No doubt about that. Woman are treated as second class citizens and it sucks. No argument here. Sorry if I came off as a jerk. Or as insensitive. Just don’t want this asshole to comeback tomorrow and make things worse. Didn’t mean to offend. Good night.

And yet, he talks about how women rejected him because of his height. HE MADE IT ABOUT WOMEN and how they owe him sex.

and I and my daughter have to live with that.

One in eight OMFG. I’d love to see it. She should create a compilation video of her just owning random dudes who think they’re good enough.

I’ve been floored my whole life by how many men with truly average or sub-par skills honestly think they know more than any women by default. Just the other day some one said “D#” and was confused as to what to call the note, so I said to think of it as Eb because you’re lowering the third to make a minor sound from a C scale so it’s Eb. Two men didn’t even listen to my words and began explaining to me why Eb is in a minor C scale. Just repeating back to me what I said as if I needed to hear it from them instead of myself?

I’ve been making music for over 20 fucking years, I actually studied music in college, and these guys know that about me. Sure, no commercial success and I’m not a true pro, but still FFS why would the first thing you assume be that I NEED IT EXPLAINED TO ME when you CLEARLY don’t know or else you wouldn’t have said the wrong thing. They must think hearing a high voice means you need to turn to the first woman you see and start trying to explain something to her.

Ok I’m just using this thread to vent now. I like these guys too. It’s just… fucking endless though. Their literal first thought is “oh because that’s feminine I must know more than it!”

I think that right there is the very heart and soul of mansplaining.

(Autocorrect changed that word to “mentoring.” :confounded: :weary: )

Blockquote In an interview Saturday night, Fleming said his team had been working to add Milov’s name and book title to the webpage that links out to the radio segment. (As of this article’s publication on Sunday morning, there was still no reference to Milov or her book on the WBUR website.)

How fucking hard is that to do? “working to add” my ass…
