A thread of our own- misogyny (Part 2)

Some time in the last century humanity crossed the line to where the majority of misery and suffering was all because some rich asshole wanted to be richer, and I am so existentially sick of them. :face_exhaling:

Men don’t base things on logic. They are (on average or w/e) way more emotional than women they just have access to fewer emotions (anger, disgust, fear). They think because they have access to fewer women are more emotional but they’re just better at all emotions. Men by win volume/volatility, THEN

once they feel one of their few emotions incredibly enormously “justify” them by using “logic.” Women are much more experienced with emotions and on a stereotype level I trust them more to handle ALL of them. Is just patriarchal myth that women are more emotional. Men are out of control.

Oh… wait. There is the Falkland wars… still. It’s… however many wars that have happened in world history started by emotionally unstable men, while we have this one started by a cold, calculating fascist woman.

Unless you consider the Falklands War as started by Argentina’s dictatorship, which I think is not unreasonable. Still you do have women like Boudicca leading uprisings or Wu Zetian trying to take over territories. All in all I’m not that convinced there’s that much difference between the handful of women who take power in patriarchical societies and men in this regard…they prove they deserve the position by acting just like other leaders. :frowning:

No… it’s more fun to pin the blame on Maggie!

Hmmm… in that case, wouldn’t the imperial power be the real aggressor?

To be clear, I wasn’t really faulting Boudicca. She was my example of war for understandable reasons, and Wu my example of war for the usual imperialist reasons. (Does Victoria count as an example, or does not being an absolute monarch change that? I wasn’t sure.)

I’d think that falls more on the Parliaments of her reign?

I understand she did put her fingers on the scale in favor of an expansionist policy, but yeah, I don’t know. :man_shrugging:

Much like Weinstein, the fact that THIS many people are accusing him of this means that LOTS of people KNEW this shit was going on and did NOTHING.

Fuck ALL the fucking patriarchy!!!

I laugh when TSA tells me to check my pockets, and usually respond with “I’m wearing girl clothes: WHAT pockets?”.

What else can you say to that kind of misogynistic shit. And they feel bold enough to say this on a public platform, too.

Yesterday the New Zealand Navy lost a ship. The survey vessel HMMZS Manawanui hit a reef while surveying off Samoa. She grounded, caught fire and sank. The crew were all rescued, with some minor injuries reported.

Why am I posting this in this thread? Because the captain happened to be a lesbian woman. And because I have been following this story, I have seen the worst of the commentariat emerge, gleefully crowing about “DEI” and “women driving”. I have spent an hour or so arguing and now I am just spent, and the tide rolls on.

It might well be that it will turn out this was the captain’s fault. It might not. We will know in a few months when the first preliminary accident report is published. In the end, the master of the ship always has to take a certain amount of responsibility. But this initial reaction is just disgusting.
