Long ago, I “learned” that postscript fonts use cubic bezier splines, and truetype uses quadratic splines, and approximating cubics with more quadratics leads to complications.
Is the conversion perfectly reliable, including the hints?

Opentype has native support for cubic bezier splines

Adobe’s original proprietary font type which gained widespread use in the 80s because it had great support on Macs and laser printers.
Now long since supplanted by other things, but still popular with people who haven’t updated their typesetting pipeline since the 1980s.
