In which case, holy shit, everyone loses here.
It happens. The Seattle NPR station made an underhanded bid to take over the Tacoma NPR station. Enough of a rukus was raised and they held a big and extremely successful fundraiser which we contributed to and now the Tacoma station lives on apart from the university it was part of before.
ETA and it was simply a market share grab as the Seattle station actually makes more than enough from sponsorship funds that it does not need to do a pledge drive.
