Good use of processing power for good but, wouldn’t simple maps showing historical flood zones do the same?

It’s not a matter of identifying potential flood zones but one of knowing where it WILL flood within the next month.

Coincidentally, the 1854 cholera outbreak in London was possibly the first example of a statistics-based approach to disease control when Dr. John Snow* drew a map of cholera cases that pointed to a particular water pump as the source of the outbreak.

*(Really. Apparently he did know something after all.)

Cholera is not caused by a virus. It is an infection of the bacteria Vibrio cholerae.
