if you have a copy of the Winstons Color Him Father LP (i.e. a 33&⅓ recording) and you look at the final song on side two and you notice that in the middle of the song there’s a section where the grooves look different: play that part at 45rpm and you get the Amen Break.

I’m very fond of listening to Siouxsie Sioux on 33 (from 45s of course) and she IS Jim Morrison. It’s hilarious to listen to The Creatures’ Right Now (old song the likes of Mel Tormé made famous) on 33 and imagine Jim Morrison doing what he should have done: gone to Vegas as a louche lounge singer.
I remember hearing Tricky covering a Banshee’s b-side and going “I knew it, he listened to them on 33 too!”

Yeah, it’s designed to avoid the spoken voice sounding chimpunky. It’s not a proper warp though. Maybe too tight to pay for a decent algorithm.
