I wonder if these things have been approved by the Sturgeon General.

This has bee going on for years. When my former girlfriend came down with pneumonia we couldn’t afford for her to go to a doctor and get prescriptions, so she got antibiotics from a pet store.

I knew this sounded familiar. In fact Mark was the one that wrote this last time.

I want to make a joke about this is how you get Mermaids but this is just too sad. America should feel ashamed…at least those of us that are not already ashamed.

This is something preppers also do - they stockpile these for the Apocalypse of choice. I like being prepared for a natural emergency - but if it gets that bad - I think I’ll just check out.

I’ve had pneumonia 3 times and I was hospitalized for it earlier this year.

I wish I could give you a hug. No human being should have to get medicine from a pet store.

This is maybe the most depressing article I’ve ever seen on people, not politics. I don’t even know how to become happy after seeing something like this this is just really fucking depressing, and I don’t even know where to begin fixing something this fucked up.

Yeah, tell me again about how Americans pay so much more for medication because they’re subsidizing over-regulated socialist economies, because I for one am sick of those lazy communist fish and their stooges in the AVMA running roughshod over the poor, helpless American pharmaceutical industry.

As someone who works in US health system, knowing full well how broken it is, I feel like I need to yell this at you:

YOU CAN GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!

The hospitals might be mean to you. The Dr. will not. The Dr. will attempt to help your sickness. The state where the Dr. resides will send the doctor some money if the Dr. fills out a form. They’ll send more if YOU fill out a form, and maybe suggest a certain Dr. who the state has less problems with.

If you are “too poor to go to the Dr” … know that you can still go! They WILL treat you. Someone WILL pay the Dr. The Dr. will not starve. I work in anti-fraud, there are 23 different ways to legitimately have the state where you reside pay the Dr. You do not need medicine engineered for animals. This is how you create superbugs and get quarantined at the CDC.

Yep, this is especially common for dealing woth dental problens since most insurance has terrible or non existant dental coverage.

You xan go to the doctor sure, but paying for that rx is whole other matter.

At least in this case, buying the human version is less expensive than the animal version.

It is the doctor’s visit that is the costly part for amoxicillin.

Yeah but doctors dont always prescribe older, cheaper antibiotics.

I am not sure how these folks make money, and it does not make any of the broken health care system in the US ok, at all, but it saves me money on my prescriptions. Just the easy comparison is nice. Again, it is some first class bullshit we have deal with this, but, I check this for any medications before I buy them:

Do you have any links? Explaining that is really interesting, but might not be enough for some folks facing this issue. Links might help. I know a few folks who could make use of this, and I would not know the first place to start to know what to search for or tell the doctors office.
