When I was in grade school, I did a science fair project on waste treatment.
In 1996, I went to Star Trek: One Weekend on Earth (30th Anniversary) in Huntsville, AL. NASA was there with a mock-up of the ISS. While the space toilet was a big photo-op, no one was talking with the engineer there who’d worked on what the ISS does with what goes into the space toilet. I think I made his day when I could talk with him about anaerobic digesters and purification of liquid waste and how waste treatment in space compares with municipal waste treatment here on earth.
Holy 2.301, that’s complicated! My desire for space travel just diminished a bit.
I will not be satisfied until someone explains the three seashells.
