Sounds a lot like a solo system for Cepheus Engine and Traveller by Zozer called “Solo”.

For a bit of clarity, Five Parsecs From Home has been around for years - and its made by Ivan Sorrenson and Nordic Weasel Games. I’ve played it a lot, and it is great fun. Ivan is great at communicating with his community, and all his other games are worth a look - if you don’t like sci-fi, he’ll have a setting that jibes!

This new print edition from Modiphius looks great compared to the old PDFs, will definitely have to order it!
