Noticed this morning that any animated gifs when uploaded are being turned into jpegs. Anyone know why? @orenwolf? I’ve posted an example below… the m0ist gif I always post…

I freshly snagged this just now… tis a smol gif and now is jpeg. Also, expresses me feels on this matter.

It appears that this is a feature intended to convert higher-bandwidth image types to jpeg to make downloading image-heavy posts easier, however it overlooked animated gifs:
I’ve disabled the feature until the Discourse folks have a fix.

I disabled several more features mentioning jpeg resizing and previews, lets see if that helps.
Nope.
Should be a fix relatively soon (within hours?), so I wouldn’t go too nuts changing a bunch of settings that will need to be reverted to defaults later.
ALSO since I saw it, I just installed a theme component that lets you search on Tenor for gifs - you’ll see the button in the compose window
