People say that the polar winter is one where the sun never rises above the horizon, but it’s really because the vast flocks of billions of penguins blot out the sun on their transpolar migrations.
It’s the Circle of Life.
It’s not even the only US station in Antarctica!. There’s Amundsen–Scott at the South Pole itself, as well as two smaller bases on islands just off the mainland, Palmer Station and Lenie Base.
I believe they do mention the other bases as well as field camps.
Those are two different sentences about keeping everyone fed and McMurdo Station, but I agree it could be interpreted as suggesting everyone lives at McMurdo. I’ll have a word with BB’s fact-checking department about that. Just kidding. This BBS is the fact-checking department!
And I complained when deployed on an aircraft carrier because the mess crew hoarded all the Fruity Pebbles.
