How’s a sphynx a furry?

What’s American about them? The sphinx cats are all “Charbonneaus” (one apparently named after an underwear model,) the leopard guitarist is in Europe (playing “The Final Countdown,”) La Panthere Rose is clearly continental… The only identifiably American archetypes are the baseball dogs and the basset hound cowdogs and maybe the basset soldier. (And the TF2 soldier and scout… who also wields a baseball bat. Hmmm.)
