Anti-woke author struggles to define woke on TV appearance

the word “woke” is the shortened form of “respectful”.

It reminds me of the complaints about “political correctness” but now it’s turned up to (at least) 11. (Or it was already at 11, now that’s the baseline and this is 11. Gahhh…)

It just occurred to me that I first heard the phrase “politically correct” used in a positive context – and in that sense, it was synonymous with “woke”. Now they both might as well mean “Niagara Falls,” soon to be joined, I guess, by “considerate” and “polite.”
