Google just did this to a developer for posting supposedly in-violation youtube videos. They disabled not only their YT account, but ALL GOOGLE ACCOUNTS including the founder’s personal accounts:
In many ways that’s worse. While Apple at least provided a justification here - that they disabled everything related to a not-paid-for item, Google just shut everything off because they could, far far outside of Youtube, or even of the company.
This even relates to service providers cutting off services for tangentially related reasons - Visa/Mastercard/Paypal suddenly becoming the arbiters of “decency” in kicking adult services off their networks without recourse, for example.
Keep local backups of stuff, Don’t mix your work stuff and your personal stuff. And pay close attention to the stuff your primary providers send you. The price of “freedom” in the cloud is eternal vigilance.
