I suppose the snails love it because of the calcium powder, for their shells.
With enough magnification snail feeding is pretty nightmarish. Like someone looked into the mouth of a shark; then decided that it needed to be threatening in a more idiosyncratic way and also a fleshy conveyor belt of rasping denticles.
