The sad thing is obviously the unnecessary loss of life/injuries, but also that this sort of thing can be done so well.
Saw this place the last time I was in Santa Fe. It has a ton of cool rooms, a maker workshop, hosts parties/music shows… (and yeah, I get that they had/have an awesome patron in George RR. Martin, but a less grandiose, but still safe sort of thing could still be done on a community basis).
