Ars Technica tackles the terrible history of Google Messaging

Well, the founder of Zoom used to work for Cisco WebEx, was embarrassed with how bad a product it was, and decided to do something about it.

the nice thing about zoom was the way they ignored user privacy, hate speech, and harassment

they made sure to first grab market share, only afterwards making security sort of kind of match what they had said they had been doing all along

so maybe good and bad product are kind of relative terms ( not that ive even ever heard of cisco’s product. zoom is a catchy name. and easy to setup )

Security and privacy is nice, but the challenge Zoom was addressing was more basic. The Cisco product, and many of the time, simply did not work at all half the time. I suppose a videoconference without video or audio is indeed very secure.
