It’s happening again on http://boingboing.net/2015/03/10/the-cost-effective-way-to-help.html.
I fixed this one. It is an error on the boing boing written side of the gateway, I think.
@jlw: I still frequently see the Discuss Link Loops in articles.
For example, on this article http://boingboing.net/2015/03/10/rutgers-online-course-tracks.html, I click the big blue DISCUSS button.
This then swipes down and turns into a big red button: Continue the discussion at bbs.boingboing.net
This button simply links back to the same article at http://boingboing.net/2015/03/10/rutgers-online-course-tracks.html.
Feature.
Ah. Got it. Neat feature! More page views!
This is on the prioritized list of things we know are broken and gotta fix.
Has to do with the author Clive. One of these:
-
author has no bbs account?
-
author has a bbs account in the authors group with permission to post in boing category?
-
Wordpress username matches bbs username?
Another Clive article with the no-comments-to-be-found-loop. A pity, I imagine the discussion would be fun for this one:
Found another one:
Why the blatant censoring of comments on Clive’s posts?!?
I jest. I just wanted to chat about them. The Vivaldi one is broken too, but I guess you guys have realized the pattern by now and don’t need us to tell you which are broken.
I’ve only noticed this issue in the last day or two. Here are a few articles without associated discussion pages.
All by Clive Thompson, so you might refer to my previous posts on the matter.
NSA Barbie. Roll model for young girls?
Mr. Thompson’s latest articles are still untopic’d. I wanted to talk about Zilog and wacky corporate comics and now I can’t.
Also holy heckies how did I miss Vivaldi this could be the greatest thing ever.
The Captain Zilog page has no discussion!!!
As I mentioned upstream…
Let me check the bits that I can check here.
- I see no bbs user “clivethompson”
Does Clive have a BBS account that anyone can find?
No discussion topic for the stop motion Transformers movie? That doesn’t appear to be a Clive Thompson issue (it’s a Pesco post, and his other posts seem to have discussion topics)
How do we fix this? I am itchin’ to comment on several Clive Thompson posts.
Someone needs to contact Clive and encourage him to create a BBS account as step #1… and make sure the username matches his WordPress username.

The “Discuss this page” loop is happening again, this time in an article not created by Clive.
In the article The Ultimate Deck (of cards) lives up to its name, the “Discuss this post in our forums” link turns into a red button that says “Continue This Discussion” when clicked, which reloads the original article when clicked.
I don’t see any thread in BBS for the article.
I don’t see a bbs user with the name “Borys” in it, so I’m assuming it’s the same issue.
