Speaking of CNN…
I see we’re at the “And if it was, that’s not a big deal” stage of the Narcissist’s Prayer.

Sorry, but just had to FTFY.
Word on the street is that the only reason Republicans are considering letting witnesses testify is so they can save face by pretending to consider the new and overwhelming evidence before voting to let Trump off the hook. Then again it wasn’t long ago that even starting impeachment proceedings was looking like a long shot, so fingers crossed.
And that question was indirectly aimed straight at him.
Weirdly, he refused to read Rand Paul’s question which outed the whistle blower, but not this? Maybe he has some integrity?
He might. His finding it at last just may be our final ray of hope in this disheartening shitshow.
He has made some votes that indicate he does have integrity. I hope that’s the case.
Why he hasn’t already risen up in righteous fury over the indignity at best of presiding over a “trial” with no witnesses blows me away.
Of course.
He’s trying to see himself as above the fray, as the Supreme court is imagined to be (if you know anything about the history, it’s not and never been). My hope is that he cares enough about the institutions he serves to act as a tie breaker if need be.
But I have no belief he would. [ETA: language]
Same here. Conservatives these days are pretty much all spineless wimps when push comes to shove.
I kind of feel like it’s less they are spineless and more that they get off on punishing those of who who don’t fit in to their world view…
Yeah, the nastier ones, for sure. But I’ve often thought of Roberts as more principled that that (however misguided I find his principles).
