You forgot “go off grid”.
Tune in, turn on, drop out, man. It’s the 60’s all over again, man. Man. Right man? Duuude. Man, dude. Duuuuude, man.

Ah, misread your Bern as Burn. D’oh!
Cool pants, bro.
Also, bolded the Bern
That appears to be the option @popobawa4u advocates, but I can’t see that making a dent unless unfeasibly large numbers of folks take that route… In the meantime, Americans finally have someone to vote for rather than against, and it could be everything fucking Obama promised and more.
A wealth tax is not such a terrible idea.
Also, you don’t need to actually balance the federal budget, ever, and especially not in a world where the government can basically borrow long-term at interest rates less than 1% above inflation. This is the time to borrow a few trillion dollars and hire people to do all the things we need as a country - shoring up infrastructure, improving public goods and services, etc. And at the same time raise taxes at the high and and wages at the low end, raising overall demand so businesses invest more and growth increases.
There is one message I really appreciate from the 60s that people who grew up in the 60s should go listen to again:
Your old road is rapidly agin’
Please get out of the new one if you can’t lend your hand
To what I believe is @starrygordon’s original point, I think that what you fear about socialism has more to do with US propaganda (And here I mean prpaganda as in propaganda ) than with any credible threat from socialism on your way of life.
You clearly see effective models of government from which you can learn but fear them based on a label to which you’ve been conditioned with a very specific reaction. Like Voldemort, or
@starrygordon for context:
Republicans who no longer like their own ideas when Democrats successfully enact them.
The federal government pays 100% of medicaid expansion costs through some year (I forget when) and 90% thereafter, but some of states with republican governors and legislatures refused anyway.
All this because they “oppose” a plan that is essentially identical to what Nixon proposed in the 70’s, what Newt Gingrich proposed in the 90’s to counter Clinton’s plans, and what Romney enacted in MA as governor.
Bernie Sanders is a a life-long Independent running against the Democratic Party. He’s only running on a Democratic ticket now so he can run to win instead of being yet another stunted protest candidate. He’s garnering a massive grassroots movement to unseat establishment, blue dog Democrats and obstructionist Republicans.
What’s your plan?
My personal plan is to bitch until nothing gets done so I can bitch some more about nothing getting done. And to give $$$ to Bernie every chance I can afford to.
Sanders won’t do anything by himself. Nothing. The only reason you even know his name right now in this race is because of our various grassroots movements that surrounds him. We’re not here to save “capitalism” – We’re here to save lives. Our various grassroots movements aren’t pushing for a living wage within the United States to save capitalism, we’re doing it because people we know and love are suffering as we speak.
I don’t pretend to know how our draconian corruption affects you or your family personally, however the approach of “watching it all burn” from the safety of an ivory tower repulses me. The wealthy are NOT going to fucking suffer from our inaction, it WILL continue to be on the backs of the most vulnerable as it has always been.
I wasn’t talking about Bernie Sanders. I was talking about the Democratic Party (as you quoted).
Ah, my mistake. Sorry.
I think Bernie is great and would vote for him in a heartbeat. I expect we won’t be given the option to do so though.
So do what you can to make it an option.
Um, yeah…
insurers.
Every human needs to watch this historic interview with an industry whistleblower:
This top Cigna health insurance executive blew the corrupt “health” insurance industry wide open. He very implicitly explains how so many Americans have been systematically programmed to irrationally fear [single payer][1] for health care (a.k.a. universal health care, Medicare for all).
What we need in this country is a single payer system for healthcare, not Romney/ObamaCare.
These people are scumbag vultures who prey upon the most vulnerable among us. They rely on lies and deception. As anyone can see in that historic interview above, they’re why so many Americans are conditioned to be terrified of “teh socialism!!!11!!”. [1]: FAQs - PNHP
If you mean registering as a member and supporter of the Democratic Party, I will not. I will not endorse that political party by joining it. They aren’t a friend of the people and are no friend of mine and joining them as a member is endorsement.
I live in California anyway:
I mean do whatever it takes to vote for him in the primary, no matter how distasteful, but more importantly, convince others that he’s genuine and credible and the only option for voting in one’s own interest.
It’s actually news to me that you’re behind Bernie; ergo, you’re not pimping his shit enough, at least around here.
