ASCII weather page

well, now it loads but the report is pretty off. this morning since 8:30 has been bright sun and it was 60 degrees when I checked my thermometer at 10am. this is what it’s giving:

so, no light or patchy rain and we’re already over the predicted high for the day. this is forgivable if it updates throughout the day, so I’ll be checking. but I get that the page just gets it’s data from the National Weather Service or whatever, it’s not as if the coders hire a team of independent meteorologists. comparatively, intellicast.com seems a bit more accurate right now. accuweather.com seems to say what wttr.com is saying. I used to always use weather.com, but all their pages aside from home all 404 lately.

Then you’re shocked.

Apparently no one bothered to check the HELP display.

Many moons ago I had a script that polled the weather stations around Pinnacles National Monument. The area is a bit of a micro-climate and I could often use the data to augment the Bay Area weather forecast to see if it was worth the drive down to climb or not. We got in several trips where the place was virtually vacant but the rock was dry enough to climb.

Indeed. In the cold harsh light of a working bash shell, it seems to be ridiculously limited. :frowning:

I believe someone above said it could be used with airport acronyms. It didn’t work with mine.

It appears to be a hobby project by someone in Norway. And it does work with airport codes - at least, a few codes from Norway. Try GEN or OSL.
