Can someone explain me how exactly one breaks a cast-iron pan?

Does unintentional melting count as breaking?

After doing a couple successful casts using pewter we thought we’d try getting a little more advanced by using copper and/or bronze. The challenge is that we don’t have a proper crucible for melting the copper.
